Why should we book a video??
& What is an elopement anyway?

Let’s start with the big one:

Why should you book a video when you already have a photographer??

Wedding photography is always at the top of couples’s to-do lists but videography is sometimes pushed back as an extra if there is enough budget – but take it from me, I am SO grateful I booked a videographer for my own wedding! One of couple’s biggest regrets for their wedding day is not booking a videographer. Below are five reasons why you should capture your big day in video:

Why book a wedding video??

1. Audio & Movement

Video captures what photography can’t: audio and movement! Hearing your vows, listening to your love letters again, seeing your partner’s reaction to the first look, watching the tears roll down your partner’s face – these emotions are so powerful on film and different from what you get from an image.

2. Re-live your wedding day

Your wedding day goes by in a flash and some part of it may just be a blur in your memory. Your wedding video is the perfect way to re-live your big day, share in your favorite moments all over again, and maybe even see some moments you missed in all of the emotions of the day.

3. Share with friends and family who weren’t there

Being able to share the day with friends and family who weren’t there: maybe grandparents struggle to travel, maybe you couldn’t invite everyone you wanted to, or maybe it’s a pandemic and your guest count and travel are restricted.

4. Document the day for future family

Book a wedding video to document your special day for your future family to see! Your future children and grandchildren can experience your day firsthand and see the great love story that started it all.

5. Keep your love strong year after year

Watching your wedding video is a powerful way to reconnect with your partner on each anniversary and remember the love and connection you felt on that day. Marriage is hard work, but hearing your vows again helps you and your partner stay dedicated to the words and love you shared.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an elopement? How is it different from an intimate wedding?

An elopement is an intentionally small, intimate wedding-day adventure that focuses on the connection between you and your partner over a full-scale vender-filled event, usually with an epic backdrop or involving traveling to an adventurous location. But overall it is a stress-free day that is all about YOU! And while definitions differ, in essence an elopement is generally 0-10 guests while an intimate wedding is up to 40 guests.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I am absolutely in love with travel and the outdoors and I am constantly adventuring – check out my travel page here for where I’m headed to next. I am more than happy to travel for your wedding/elopement/adventure! Plus, if your wedding or elopement is where I am already traveling to, I will waive all travel fees!

Where are you based?

I am currently based in West Virginia. But I am happy to travel for your wedding and I travel often! Check out my travel page here.

How would you describe your video style?

My style is cinematic and romantic, with a focus on story-telling. While I love to document artistic details, my focus first and foremost is on the connection and emotion shared between you and your partner.

How do we book with you??

Start by filling out my contact form here! I will reach out to you and we’ll discuss all things wedding related and address any questions you might have for me. You’ll then pick out a package (or I’ll put together a custom one for you!) and I’ll send over a contract for you to sign. Once you send that back signed and put down a deposit your date is officially booked!

Are you open to shooting LGBTQ weddings? What about POC?

OF COURSE! I document all love and I will do everything I can to make sure you are as comfortable and supported as possible on your big day. I support body positivity, Black Lives Matter, and I do my best to support and educate myself on diverse communities and cultures. If there is a way I can better serve the LGBTQ and POC communities, please let me know; I am committed to ongoing education and celebrating love in all forms!

Are you open to shooting non-western weddings?

OF COURSE! I am open to shooting any wedding or celebration of love, whether that’s a western-style traditional white-dress event or a three day Indian wedding celebration!

In the past I have shot a traditional South African wedding, a Jewish wedding, and other non-western celebrations. I do my best to support and educate myself on diverse communities and cultures. If I haven’t yet documented your wedding style I will fully research and learn about your celebration so I am prepared and best able to capture your day with the full attention and love it deserves.

Do you also do photography?

On the wedding day, I will do ONLY video OR photography – trying to do both as just one individual usually results in neither focus getting the full attention it deserves. I highly recommend you booking a photographer in addition to me as your videographer.

But if you are interested in photography alone, I actually began as a wedding photographer and I still shoot wedding photography, engagements, and other sessions. Video has my heart for weddings but I love photography too and would be happy to be your photographer for the day!

Can you help recommend a photographer?

Definitely! I have worked with a lot of different photographers and it is really important that your photographer and videographer work well together, so I base my picks on who I think will do an amazing job, who you’ll connect with, and who I work well with so that we can both best document your day.

Do you have a second shooter?

I currently do not have an in-house second shooter, but I do hire quality second shooters that often have their own video business or are looking to shoot more wedding videos. If you would like to add a second shooter, please let me know in your request.

We're awkward, will you help direct us?

Yes! I have a lot of experience working with couples who feel awkward or are nervous about cameras being on them, and always end up having so much fun that they forget the cameras are there!

My approach is art direction that focuses on movement and connection between you and your partner. I will work closely with your photographer to make sure you not just look your best but more importantly, help you remember how you felt in that exact incredible moment together!

What is an adventure session?

An adventure session can be pretty much any adventure you want to do with your partner including but not limited to: engagements, anniversaries, couples sessions, day-after sessions, etc.

Do you also do engagements/proposals/anniversaries/other?

Yes! I would love to document any day in your love story, or any adventure you want to get up to together!

How far in advance should we book you?

It’s best to book your wedding video at least six months out from your wedding date. That being said, since video is sometimes relegated to the end of a couple’s bookings, I have often booked as little as three months out, but that is highly dependent on my travel schedule and availability.

I have a question not answered here, how do I contact you?

If you have a specific request or question that is not applicable to the contact form here, you can email me at becca@roamfreeweddings.com.
